UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a contract within the Private Sector Partnerships Services in our Office in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Organizational context

UNHCR has relocated several key functions from our Headquarters in Geneva to UN City in Copenhagen, including UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnership Service (PSP) supporting UNHCR’s fast growing collaboration with the private sector in all corners of the world. This is a high priority area, and as the world is facing a historic refugee crisis the support and engagement of the private sector is more critical than ever before.
 
UNHCR continues to scale up its engagement with the Danish private sector through strengthened partnerships that may involve financial or in-kind support, technical collaboration, innovation and transfer of knowledge, employee and/or customer engagement and joint advocacy and campaigns.
 
The Private Sector Partnership Associate position is part of the PSP Denmark team and offers an opportunity to also work in close collaboration with colleagues from regional and global PSP teams.
 

The position

We are seeking a skilled and proactive individual who will assist the Head of Unit in deepening UNHCR’s collaboration with key foundations and corporates in Denmark. The right candidate will additionally develop and test new engagement channels such as legacies and larger CRM-driven initiatives.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit, the Private Sector Partnerships Associate will have the following responsibilities:
  • Assist with identifying and developing strategic partnership and fundraising opportunities amongst Danish companies and foundations through research, outreach to and cultivation of relationships;
  • Prepare compliance screening reports for submission to PSP’s global team; 
  • Prepare presentations, pitches and partnership outlines and participate in meetings with private sector partners;
  • Draft or adapt compelling partnership proposals in close collaboration with PSP’s global teams;
  • Contribute to accurate and timely reporting to private sector partners in close collaboration with PSP’s global teams;
  • Expand communication interface with the private sector, including through newsletters, UNHCR’s digital platforms in Denmark, visibility material at major events etc.;
  • Prepare workshops, meetings and networking events, including in a broader UN City context;
  • Develop and pilot new private sector engagement activities and tools, including through legacies, cause-related marketing and CRM-based fundraising campaigns such as direct marketing;
  •  Contribute to the further strategic development of UNHCR’s engagement with the private sector in Denmark;
  • Perform any other tasks, incl. administrative tasks as required;

 

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required

The ideal candidate will be required to have:
  • Secondary Education and advanced training / certificate in Marketing, Business Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Communications, Development/Refugees studies or a related field:
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in relevant field, preferably private sector partnerships/fundraising related in a not-for-profit or international organization;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and experience with strategic communication, incl. for campaigns and brands;
  • Fluency in English and Danish, with advanced writing and editing skills;
  • Analysis, planning and organizing competencies with ability to multitask and prioritize workload despite tight deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office;

 

Additional relevant qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of the role of the private sector in the humanitarian sphere;
  • Knowledge about international humanitarian work and strong interest in the refugee cause;
  • Experience with working in an international, multicultural environment;

 

Location

The successful candidate will be based in UNHCR’s office, UN City in Copenhagen, Denmark.

 

Conditions

The position is associated with a yearly contract, valid until end of the year, with possibility of renewal. It is a full-time role, with schedule from Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
The salary is in line with the local UN GS Salary scale.
