All-round communications and branding officer
International Media Support (IMS) is looking for a proactive, savvy communications and branding officer to work with us to tell IMS' stories.
IMS is a non-profit, media development organisation working to support local media in countries affected by armed conflict, human insecurity and political transition. We promote press freedom, provide safety for journalists and pave the way for good journalism.
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive self-starter who wants to apply his or her communications skills to advance quality journalism and the safety of journalists.
You will be part of a communications team where we strive to communicate the impact and aims of activities of IMS, as well as the importance of press freedom to audiences in primarily the Nordic countries and in our programme countries. The role entails both supporting your communication colleagues on their projects and executing projects you are responsible for.   
Candidates should have a sharp eye for layout, the good story and how to present it, and lots of creativity, and preferably an interest in journalism and international affairs. In return, we offer a dynamic and inspiring work place with staff from more than 30 countries who believe passionately in press freedom.

Tasks include production of printed branding material and content for IMS’ online presence; organisation of and logistical support to public outreach and events in the Nordic countries, promotion of the work of IMS and its partners in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and international media. The Communications and branding officer works closely with colleagues in the Communications team, programme staff and IMS’ global partners.

  • Organise and provide logistical support to public outreach and partner-oriented IMS events in Denmark and Nordic donor communities;
  • Support the update and production of content on IMS’ website and online platforms to mirror IMS’ organisational strategy and stronger messaging to wider audiences;
  • Promote the work of IMS in Danish, Swedish Norwegian and international media by identifying, pitching and writing relevant stories/op-eds to Danish and international media that document IMS’ products and results for multiple communication platforms;
  • Produce branding material for IMS such as leaflets, presentations, multimedia content, video, one-pagers on programmes, send out newsletters;
  • Spearhead/oversee the layout of internal and external publications, documents, proposals, reports and presentations;
  • Light editing work of articles and publications;
  • Stay up to date on new media trends, donor policies and ideas to increase IMS visibility;
  • Contribute to producing visual materials using video and photo software, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator for social media posts, website and for printed materials.
Qualifications and skills  
  • Relevant educational background in areas such as journalism and communications, graphics design, multimedia;
  • Very organized with strong attention to detail;
  • Experience handling corporate social media accounts. SoMe campaign experience an added value;
  • Experience with press work;
  • Excellent writing skills in English a must.
  • Knowledge of Danish is an asset;
  • Editing experience;
  • Experience working in developing countries and in international environments with communications and journalism is an asset;
  • A team player ready to take on tasks, big or small.
Duration and location  
This is a full-time position based in IMS HQ in Copenhagen, Nørregade 18. There is a three-month trial period. Salary will be commensurate with experience and IMS policies. Starting date: 1 May 2020.
