Better Energy
Director of Communication
Better Energy is looking for our first Director of Communication to support Better Energy’s growth and make an impact that matters.

Better Energy is one of the fastest growing providers of solar energy in Northern Europe. Our vision is to improve the lives of people and the environment with power that is clean, reliable, safe and sustainable. We develop, build, own, and operate large-scale solar parks in Denmark, Poland and Sweden. We are determined to drive change and add new green energy to the energy supply and help make green energy the easy choice for companies – and we are driven to make the world a better place, one solar park at a time.

How does a Director of Communication fit into Better Energy?
Better Energy is a thriving company, and this role will help us maximise our full potential communicatively. We are strong in relation to brand/market and specifically PA/political influence, but currently there is no dedicated communication function in the company. As our company continues to grow, so does our need to communicate our different activities to a wide range of different stakeholders. Incorporating our strategic guidelines and input, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a cohesive communication strategy. Your main tasks will be centered around the following:

1. Building our brand, showing the facts, setting the agenda
Your job is to continue to build Better Energy as a strong brand and reliable business partner in the quest for sustainable energy with our “show it, don’t tell it” approach. At the same time, you – alongside the entire Better Energy team – also have a clear agenda to support and fight for solar energy as the key to solve current challenges on a global scale, specifically in Northern Europe, in the transition to a sustainable energy sector.

2. Developing a universal framework for involving and engaging local communities
We develop, build, own and operate solar parks. This requires involvement and collaboration with the local population and local authorities, and we have a strong team in place to ensure just that. We need you to develop a universal Better Energy framework and communications plan for involvement, dialogue and positioning of the solar parks as a win for the local community, so this framework can be more easily shared and scaled – including internationally.

3. Handling media relations and SoMe
In close collaboration with the leadership in Better Energy, you will further develop the agenda-setting activities and networks in Denmark. Journalist networks must be built in Poland and Sweden as well, mainly through partnership and collaboration with local agencies.

Some of the tasks that await you:

  • Develop and drive a communications strategy.

  • Develop message hierarchy.

  • Develop a universal Better Energy framework and communications plan for involvement, dialogue, and positioning of the solar parks as a win for the local community.

  • Produce executive-level communications for internal and external audiences, such as press releases, white papers, issue briefs, talking points, and presentations.

  • Engage with senior executives and develop key messaging and take the lead on (some) advocacy initiatives.

  • Develop and manage Better Energy’s online and social media presence.

Who will you be working with?
You will report to Michelle Laramie Lund, Executive Vice President of Sustainability, People and Communications (SPC) and you will join a department which currently consists of eleven dedicated employees who all support and inspire each other.

About you
We expect that you have at least 7 years of relevant experience and a proven track record of successful communications activities.

To be successful as our Director of Communication, you have previously

  • Shown the ability to prioritise, adapt, align communications efforts with (ever changing) business needs.

  • Worked with executive and senior management and displayed thorough commercial understanding and business acumen.

  • Developed a broad knowledge of and operational experience with reputation and issues management, as well as media relations, public affairs, internal communications, and PR.

  • Shown excellent writing skills and a keen attention to detail.

  • Proven your ability to work with and influence a wide range of stakeholders.

You are fluent in Danish as well as in English. Knowledge of Polish and Swedish is a plus. Your educational background is probably MA in Communications, MA Business Administration and Communication, or similar.

Your personality matters
As a person, you are excited about making a difference by promoting solar energy and are driven by the importance of reaching our climate targets. You are also excited at the prospect of being Better Energy’s representative in our communications efforts. You possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and you value working closely with people from different departments. You have a professional and meticulous approach to your work, are curious and attentive to detail, function independently and bring positive energy. We imagine that you are light-hearted, warm-natured, communicative and socially aware of your surroundings.

What we offer and how we recruit
We offer a varied job with a lot of responsibility and plenty of room for personal development, as well as a wonderful department of people who often come together to solve tasks. You will experience the satisfaction and pride of working for something as important as the green transition, while having fun with your work.

We know that our people make the difference. This means that we are very thorough when we look for the best match for both you and Better Energy. We have asked Kforum to assist us in this recruitment, so if you have questions about the position or the process, please contact Elisabeth Geday, Ass. Recruitment Partner at or
